AFTER a six-month hiatus, Baakens Food Truck Funday is back, promising some of the best in street food culture from around the Eastern Cape.

The market returns to the Valley on Friday, November 15, from 17:00 to 22:00, this time activating a new space, The Gallery, in Produce Street, Baakens Valley.

The space is indoors, so the weather is not an issue.

Twenty owner-operated food trucks were hand picked for this event, with some food trucks being a part of the Baakens Food Truck Funday movement since its inception in 2016.

The selection includes everything from traditional Indian street food, gourmet burgers and Belgian waffles to Asian dimsum and pizza from Naples.

A curated craft market will fill the left wing of The Gallery, and include fresh produce and condiments, fashion, art and a few Nelson Mandela University arts students exhibiting their latest work and projects.

The Kings Beach Skate Crew will also be in attendance, and children and adults alike are invited to bring their decks down to the valley.

On the music front, the Alexander Road High School Jazz Band and the Lawson Brown Steel Band will entertain the crowds.

The DJ line-up is also back for the Friday night instalment of the market, with Sham de Funk and the Selective Fridays crew in attendance.
