MBIZANA-BASED side Spears of the Nation FC proved that they were too good for Bush Pirates, when they hammered them 3-1 in their ABC Motsepe League game at Motherwell NU 2 Stadium on Saturday.

The visiting side, which had travelled more than 700km from their home to Port Elizabeth, launched countless attacks on Pirates. Pirates played well but failed to take long-range shots.

Spears’ star midfielder, Ndumiso Sheriff Mdletshe, laid a perfect pass to their striker, Sibongelani Gamede, who scored his side’s opening goal in the 42nd minute.

Spears displayed their football prowess as they kept the home side on their back foot.

Gamede unleashed a powerful shot that increased Spears’ lead to 2-0 in the 69th minute.

Pirates came back strongly and Sinethemba Mitiyo was rewarded with a goal in the 75th minute. The joy of the Addo side was immediately cancelled after Thobile Mkhize came up with Spears’ last goal in the 81st minute.

The Mbizana side claimed a 3-1 victory convincingly.
