LOYAL supporters of Villagers were over the moon when their side earned a sweet 2-1 revenge triumph over their arch-rivals, Sparks, during their SAFA Nelson Mandela Bay Masters Association League game, which took place at Motherwell NU 9 Community Grounds on Sunday.
It was very clear early on that Villagers would end the dominance of Sparks over them, as they piled more and more pressure on their rivals.
Khaya Shenxane was the key man for Villagers. Sparks goalkeeper, Patrick Rasana, was kept busy as Villagers kept on testing him.
The first half ended goalless as neither side capitalised on scoring opportunities.
In the second half, Motherwell NU13 striker, King Mfolozi, fired a scorcher that Sparks goalkeeper Rasana failed to stop from crossing his goal line.
Villagers increased their score to 2-0 after Mfolozi scored a long range volley that sent his supporters into raptures.
Sparks striker, Nkosinathi Jomo Rixana, headed their consolation goal after his side were awarded a corner kick.
Eleven Attackers edged out Veeplaas 2-1 at Motherwell NU9 Community Grounds.
Zane Mrwebi and Shakes Tyatya scored a goal each for Attackers, while Rubin Hlolimpi came up with Veeplaas’s consolation goal.
