A FAMILY from Salsoneville is currently hard at work, planning fund-raisers and making arrangements for 16-year-old Teagan Geduld to live his dream in England later this year.

The 16-year-old soccer enthusiast currently plays for Apex United and ProSkills Academy, the latter of which has selected him to participate in the Manchester Cup, which takes place in England on April 11 and 12.

There will be scouts from teams, including Liverpool, Manchester United, Barcelona, Man City, Arsenal, Valencia and FC Porto, who will be looking for talent.

“We are excited for Teagan’s trip to England, as he will not only be participating in the Manchester Cup, but also going for trials at major football clubs, which is an awesome opportunity,” said Teagan’s mother, Estelique.

“In doing this, he has the opportunity to be scouted and receive a professional contract to play for any of the above-mentioned clubs,”

According to her, Teagan, a goalkeeper, has been playing soccer from the age of seven and has received numerous certificates, medals and trophies in his sporting career, which include Goalkeeper of the Year 2018, and Goalkeeper of the Night Series Tournament 2019.

The cost of going to England to participate in the Manchester Cup and trials is R31 000.

One of their fund-raising efforts is selling burgers and chips at R40 on Fridays. As the family resides in Salsoneville, delivery is free in Salsoneville, Sanctor, West End, Cleary Estate and Hillside. Orders must be in by 12:00 on Thursdays.

They will also be hosting a cash bingo event in the Sanctor High School hall on March 7 from 14:00.

The cost is R150 for three playing cards and every participant plays 10 games. Refreshments will be sold.
