NELSON Mandela Bay-born Sibongile Fondini was elected as an International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) Africa vice-president in Johannesburg recently.
The IWBF is the custodian and governing body of wheelchair basketball worldwide.
Fondini is well known in all circles of sport across South Africa for his hard work and is able to market all different kinds of sports.
As such, Fondini’s communication skills, innovative skills, personal skills and passion for sport are his strong points that led to his election.
Fondini’s other roles include Basketball South Africa deputy president, Wheelchair Basketball South Africa board member, Nelson Mandela Bay Sports Confederation general secretary, Motherwell Sports Forum president and PE Comets chairperson.
Fondini committed himself to work very hard for the people. Fondini explains, “As one of the vice-presidents, I will be responsible for competitions on the continent and strengthening the growth of Wheelchair Basketball federations over the four-year period.
“I am convinced that I will add value during my term of office,” he said.
