THE McWilliams Academy of Dance (M.A.D) recently hosted international examiner and adjudicator, Nancy Troy O’Herlihy, to adjudicate the ‘Feis on the Bay’ Irish dance competition at The Savoy Theatre.
The special section, 15 years and older, was won by Jemima Opperman (15) from Collegiate High School, who was awarded the Courtney Pearce Trophy.
Jenna Hayes was placed second and Tammy Forbes was awarded third place.
The special section, 14 years and under, was won by Shanna du Plessis (12) from Collegiate Junior School, who was awarded the Siobhan Moore Trophy.
Josephine Opperman came second and Lara Fowlds was awarded third place.
The junior pre-championships (PC) results were as follows:
- Chloe Wedderburn – Caitlin Tribelhorn Trophy for PC1.
- Megan Walker – Georgia Turner Trophy for PC2, Nicole Triblehorn Trophy for PC3.
- Eden Oliver – Ashley Dyke Trophy for PC5.
Troy O’Herlihy also adjudicated all the studio’s grade exams from Grades 1 to 11.
The studio is now preparing to send nine of their championship dancers to the Word Irish Dance Championships, scheduled to be held in Dublin from April 5 to 12.
