SHINING Stars FC, a soccer team which is based in Emakhaleni in KwaZakhele, made a huge difference after they ploughed back into their community by donating food parcels to eight families on Friday.

According to the Shining Stars FC secretary, Masibulele Mekana, the players and the loyal supporters jointly decided to give back to less fortunate family members in their own community. Mekana stated they had observed the severe conditions under which these families were living. He said that what worried them was to see these families starving and that was why they decided to make a donation of food parcels possible.

“We are adding hope to the people who have nothing at all. We told ourselves that our people cannot sleep on empty stomachs. Despite the fact that we have no enough financial resources, we decided to buy these food parcels for these families in our community.

“Above all, we draw players from this area of Emakhaleni. We would be satisfied if other clubs could lend a helping hand, just for the sake of people who have nothing. Our aim is to practise the concept of Ubuntu,” Mekana said.

Shining Stars FC appealed to other clubs to start soup kitchens to help the members of their communities.

Furthermore, Stars appealed to businesspeople to plough back into the community.
