A LOCAL runner is planning another lockdown fundraiser for Saturday, June 20.

Alan Taylor, who has been a runner for more than 35 years, has already held two Garden Run fundraisers during lockdown of 56km and 42km respectively. He managed to raise R65 000 for food for the needy.

The aim of this next fundraiser is a fun relay race for friends on Saturday from 08:00 to 13.00.

Volunteer running teams will run for five hours. The hosts are Alan Taylor, Linda Harwood, Gino Fabbri and Neil Bisseker. Each one will gather a team to join them on the morning.

Members of the public are invited to drop off non-perishable foods, cat and dog food, old clothing, linen or blankets to assist needy families who are struggling during lockdown.

The drop-off points are:

Mill Park: At the back of Grey High School, at Wares Road/McLean Avenue

Walmer Heights: The block behind Builders Warehouse/ Vineyard Church in Sibelus Street

Walmer: Opposite Clarendon Park Primary School, Target Kloof/ 8th Avenue

Sunridge: From 39 Aster Avenue, Sunridge Park

Each collection point will have an East Cape Motors vehicle on display as the drop off point for donations of non-perishable food or old clothing.
