MARLON Louis is well-known for taking centre stage when it come to the development of school sport.

The Victoria Park High School sports manager has a great passion for sport.

He has guided Victoria Park High School to many tournaments and helped his u/14 boys’ soccer team to represent the Nelson Mandela Bay in the MacDonald Cup u/14 tournament and many provincial competitions.

Victoria Park High School’s soccer teams, under the mentorship of Louis, have taken part in many cross-cultural soccer competitions.

He has organised many successful interprovincial Victoria Park School soccer challenge tournaments that drew school teams from the Western Cape, Free State and Eastern Cape.

Louis feels the lack of adequate of playing facilities in the metro is the biggest challenge.

He strongly believes that the lack of interzonal schools’ competitions for the age groups in the metro is also a challenge in the youth sport development.

The continued struggle to complete league fixtures due to various factors and circumstances has a bad effect on sport.
