The injured horses have now received a donation of wound-healing oil, valued at more than R5 000, to help with their recovery process.

“As horse racing enthusiasts, we are extremely glad to be able to offer this Repcillin donation at a time when the injured Fairview horses were in need of wound treatment,” said Emma Sweet, of Repcillin.

One of the attacked horses, Power Shot, who had won his last race out at Fairview, received a brutal slash to the face. According to Sweet, the severe wound which penetrated his eyelid, did not go entirely through to his eyeball and the horse is expected to make an excellent recovery.

Both Power Shot and the other injured racehorses are receiving daily wound cleaning and Repcillin Oil treatment.

“My father, John Sweet, has previously helped out the Eastern Cape Horse Care unit with product donations for similar injuries where rapid wound healing was reported from our Repcillin Oil.

“We believe that our natural products will help the horses’ severe wounds,” she said.
