Well-known local comedian, Gino Fabbri, is ready to bring his tribute to things unverified, Fabbricated, to the Music Kitchen in Newton Park this weekend.

The highly anticipated show initially launched to much fanfare in March before the lockdown was announced and live performances were put on hold. Fabbri, who moved his focus online in the interim producing 70 editions of his Facebook talk-comedy show, Gino’s Spot, is itching to perform live again.

“Interacting with an unseen audience online and having to imagine their laughter has taught me new skills over this period,” said Fabbri, “but there is no substitute for the adrenaline rush of entertaining a live audience – and I miss that so much!”

The Music Kitchen will limit capacity and take all the necessary COVID-19 protection measures to keep audiences safe.

Fabbricated pokes fun at a society which apparently can no longer tell fact from varnished fiction as Fabbri introduces his audience to a fresh slew of fabricators who can’t seem to avoid stretching the truth to breaking point.

These fabricators include Justin Credible, a snake-oil salesman; Lavender Du Santos’s Mafioso husband, Manuel; hippie Lentil Visagie; popular rule-bound cop, Helmut Rampspoed, and many more.

Tall stories, giant fibs, interactive songs, audiovisual hilarity, fast-paced one-liners, ingenious banter and a rocking new drum finale are just some of the surprises in store.

Fabbricated will be staged at the Music Kitchen on October 16 and 17. Shows start at 20:00.

Tickets to the show are available through Quicket at R120.

The Saturday night performance will also feature a special live onstage edition of Gino’s Spot from 18:30.
