The
South African Police Service in Algoa Park are investigating a case of culpable
homicide following an accident between a bus and a Datsun Go at approximately 18:40 on Friday, 16 October in Old Bethelsdorp Road,
Missionvale.
It is alleged
that a Datsun Go was traveling in Old Bethelsdorp Road towards Uitenhage Road
and the bus was traveling from Uitenhage Road towards Stanford Road, Gelvandale, said Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg, police spokesperson.
“The driver of the Datsun Go lost control of his vehicle and crossed lanes into
the oncoming traffic and collided with the bus. The driver, Rudi Tobias
(42), was alone in the vehicle and died on the scene. The occupants in the bus
were not injured, but they were traumatised,” Janse van Rensburg said.
A case of
culpable homicide is currently under investigation.
