CALLING all literature lovers… The second-hand bookshop at the Walmer Town Hall is open for business again.
During the months of lockdown, the premises became a haven and shelter for the homeless. Unfortunately, the facility was desecrated and badly vandalised during this time.
The Children’s Feeding Trust has refurbished the bookshop, restocked the shelves and opened the doors to the public again. The shop helps them to raise funds, which assists them in their outreach.
The Children’s Feeding Trust has been in operation for 62 years, reaching out to feed the hungry, abandoned and sick children in and around the city.
The adjacent sorting room in the bookshop now has a memorable plaque – ‘The Margaret Harradine Sorting Room’ – in memory of a late friend who assisted weekly in the sorting of donated books.
Margaret spent many days finding gems among the books and these are advertised on the websites, BidorBuy and etsy.com/shop/Vintantiqua.
The Children’s Feeding Trust bookshop accepts donations of any books.
They are open Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 12:00. Strict COVID-19 protocol rules apply. For more info, contact Pat or Maureen at 041 581 4371.
