AFTER the numerous, unexpected challenges of 2020, many would have experienced it as the year they learned to appreciate what they have.
With this in mind, The Eastern Cape Association for Cerebral Palsy would like to reintroduce members of the community to a little blonde girl in a green or blue dress with a brace on her leg, a teddy bear under the arm and a collection box in her hands – the collection doll representing a person who lives with cerebral palsy that has been used to raise funds since 1940.
In South Africa, one out of 400 infants are diagnosed with cerebral palsy, a lifelong disorder that affects the ability to conduct voluntary coordinated movement.
The Eastern Cape Association for Cerebral Palsy has been providing services to those with cerebral palsy, including diagnosis, treatment, care, training and employment, as well as support to the families of individuals with cerebral palsy.
In order to provide these services, the association, a non-profit organisation, needs to run fund raising projects.
They called on the community to support their collection doll drive. The proceeds of the fund raising project will be used to support community members who live with cerebral palsy, especially during the 2020 festive season.
