Two offenders from Grahamstown Correctional Centre in Makhanda escaped from custody on 12 December at about 15:45.
The offenders are Lonwabo Ngqokowana (36) and Zuko Luzuko Lizo Makhanda Gxasheka Sabatha (37).
According to a statement releasec by the Department of Correctional Services, the inmates are serving sentences for rape, aggressive assault, kidnapping and stock theft.
“The Department of Correctional Services is still investigating the circumstances which led to the escape,” the statement read.
“Members of the public are cautioned not to try and apprehend these escapees as they are dangerous criminals.”
