Photographer Antionette Morkel, from Port Elizabeth, will be sharing her extensive knowledge with aspiring photographers when she offers a beginner photography course from February 2, at A&A Guesthouse in Millpark in PE.
Morkel has always enjoyed photography as a hobby, from a young age, but only began her career as a photographer once she retired as a physiotherapist in 2015.
To gain more knowledge, she then joined the Uitenhage Cameraclub in May 2015, and has often given free photography lessons at the club.
“It gives me great satisfaction to see how people improve in photography once they have been taught all the necessary skills needed to take good quality pictures,” she said.
Morkel will be offering a 60–hour long beginner’s course to a maximum of 10 participants at a price of R2 800 per person, while a discount of R500 will be given to PE Express readers.
“Participants will gain knowledge about portraits, macro, still life, night photography, sport, landscape and wildlife photography,” said Morkel.
The course will focus on theory on Tuesday and Thursday evening from 18:00 to 20:30 and practical shooting on the weekend.
Starting dates for the course is from February 2, March 23, May 17, June 22, and September 14.
According to Morkel, as part of the COVID–19 measures put in place at the guesthouse which she owns, all participants will be screened at reception, masks are compulsory and deep cleaning will be done before each lesson.
