An 18-year-old man from Windvogel died yesterday (Monday) after being electrocuted whilst flying a kite almost a week ago.
Ethan Louis sustained serious burns during the incident that took place in Second Street in this area last Wednesday.
According to police reports, Louis and a 7-year-old boy were flying a kite close to electrical power lines on the day of the incident, when the kite touched one of the electrical wires. The electrical current passed through Louis, causing serious burns. The 7-year-old sustained minor injuries. Both were treated on scene by paramedics and transported to hospital for further treatment.
“An inquest docket was opened at the Gelvandale police station after the victim passed away,” police spokesperson, Capt. Sandra Janse van Rensburg, said.
“The inquest is under investigation,” she added.
