SEVEN Sundowns Sports Club deputy chairperson, Mncedisi Marks Thomas, stated that none of his club’s players were allowed to participate in any form of game.

Thomas revealed to PE Express that there was a soccer tournament that was played in Motherwell while the lockdown regulations were still in force.

Thomas said, “One of our u/17 players asked our club secretary to give him permission to help another side playing in the tournament. I am very happy that our secretary refused to grant permission.

“The government stated that the amateur sport is suspended during this time of alert level 3, because more people are infected with the coronavirus and there are more deaths due to this COVID-19 pandemic. We are a caring club because we value human life more than sport. The right time will come for amateur sport.”

Thomas stated that his club management stated long ago that no player was allowed to take part in any kind of sport.

“We do not allow our players to practise, organise games or tournaments or help other sides. The parents will regard our club as a group of disobedient, inconsiderate people if we allow their children to do whatever pleases them.

“All players of Sundowns are under our control, as their management.

“I want to warn these players who do not adhere to lockdown regulations that the club will take disciplinary action against them,” said Thomas.
