SANDILE Mazizi is one of the best football stars that Motherwell Football Association (MOFA) has ever produced.
Mazizi, who was born in Peddie, told PE Express that his dream was to play at professional football level.
He started playing football in the streets of Motherwell when he was six years old. Mazizi, affectionately called Sayi by his fans, played soccer at Zanoxolo Primary School and Ncedo Senior Secondary School.
He played for the juniors of the local football club, Young Romans FC, which is affiliated to MOFA. He was promoted to the senior team of Young Romans as he was the best player.
He said, “I would like to thank my junior coaches, Sipho Ta-Sader Makrala and Mbulelo Ta-Mbu Ndlovu, because they equipped me with life skills. Makrala coached me in the senior team of Young Romans.
“These two coaches helped me a lot in my football career. They informed me that football was not onlyabout playing but sport also had a benefit of making friendship. They also informed us that to lose in sport is normal.”
Mazizi played a significant role together with other players in helping Real City FC win the SAB League Promotional Play-offs. The left-footed defender and midfielder played for Morning Stars, Sibanye FC, FC Calidion and Bush Pirates that campaign in the ABC Motsepe League. He also played for AGAPE International Academy, Augusto Palacious Academy and Orlando Pirates Academy.
“My experience speaks volumes and my main goal is to play top-flight football.
“I will grab any opportunity that comes with both hands. Ncedo Senior Secondary School head coach, Siphiwo Mtshingila, also played a key role in my football career.
“My parents, younger brother and my two sisters give me more support so that I can pursue my dream. My younger brother is a football coach while my younger sister, Anelisa, plays football. I work very hard and I am ready for any side,” said Mazizi.
