MOTHERWELL-BASED side, Volcano Ladies’ FC, is in desperate need of a proper home ground.
Club chairperson and head coach, Mzuvukile Reggie Khesi, who has high ambitions for his team, would like to see his club having a proper home ground.
After five years of existence, his side achieved a major milestone by winning the SAFA NMB Women’s Regional League. Volcano also won the promotional play-offs. This season, Volcano is going to campaign in the Sasol League, which is run by SAFA Eastern Cape.
Volcano conducts their practice on a field that is full of stones and thorny bushes. According to Khesi, they do not have a field at all.
Khesi said, “It takes lots of effort to form a club. It needs lots of determination, energy and passion. My paramount objectives are that the club should have a proper home ground and practice ground.
“Apart from the field, I would like the club to nurture young talents. We would like to see some of our players playing in the professional ranks. We are going to host some visitors and we have to play at Motherwell NU 2 Stadium, which is far away from the club’s home.
“Our club is situated in Motherwell NU 9 and the nearby Motherwell NU 9 Stadium is in a shameful situation. It is vandalised and it looks dilapidated at the present moment. This stadium’s changing rooms are in a terrible state.”
Khesi revealed that his club would become a sports club in the future.
He said, “Our organisation is growing every day. We are going to register our second team in SAFA NMB Women’s Regional League.
“We are going to register a male soccer team and we look forward to forming a netball team. Therefore, a proper field will be a right solution to a problem.
“Our present open space that we use as a practice field has a very rough surface and our players injure themselves.
“This state of our practice field might end the career of some players.
“We are in need of goalposts with nets, field markers and a field with green grass and right facilities. I look forward at getting help with regard to a proper field.”
