The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality wishes to inform residents that due to the strike action currently taking place, some of the municipal services have been negatively affected.
“Refuse collection trucks have started with their rounds today and residents can take out their refuse bags. However, those who can utilise the City’s drop-off sites to dispose of their waste are encouraged to do so as the City is dealing with a backlog in this area,” the statement read.

“Some of the affected directorates include Electricity and Energy and Infrastructure and Engineering. This has caused delays in responding to reported electrical faults and water leaks.”
The City humbly requests residents and businesses to bear with us during this time as all possible efforts are underway to restore normality. Some of the areas affected by power outages include the Uitenhage Industrial area, Wells Estate and Straundale, the statement read.
“Traffic Services offices in Uitenhage and Korsten have also been temporarily closed due to the strike action.
“The City would like to plead for patience and cooperation during this time as engagements are taking place to resolve the matter. We apologise for the inconvenience caused.”
