Bethelsdorp detectives are appealing to the community to
assist them in identifying and tracing the next-of-kin of a man found dead on January
18 this year in their policing area.
According to police spokesperson, Col. Priscilla Naidu, on
the mentioned date at approximately 07:00, the partially decomposed body of an
unknown black male was found under a tree at the corner of Stanford Road and
September Road in Bethelsdorp.
“According to residents in the area, the deceased was a
vagrant and is well-known in the area as many of them fed him from time to
time. He is between the ages of 45 and 60 years old,” Naidu explained.
“A black bag with clothing and empty water bottles were found
next to him. He was wearing a long- sleeved khaki top, black tracksuit pants
and white All Star takkies. An inquest docket was opened,” she added.
