man stabbed, womans car pelted with stones

Two incidents, one of armed robbery and the other of malicious injury to property, occurred simultaneously in Victoria Drive yesterday.

It is alleged that that the woman was on her way home and
driving in Victoria Drive just after 08:00 when she noticed two ladies standing
at the bus stop. It is further alleged that the complainant saw three
suspicious males walking toward the ladies. In an attempt to help the ladies,
she drove straight toward the men, but they split up, after which one of the
men stoned her vehicle, a white Audi.

According to police spokesperson, Capt. Sandra Janse van
Rensburg, the vehicle sustained damage to the left side of the front
windscreen. “When this happened, the complainant stopped. She noticed that
another vehicle, driven by an unknown man, had also stopped. The suspects also
stoned his vehicle, damaging his left side window,” she explained.

It is further alleged that the suspects attacked the man and
stabbed him multiple times. A case of malicious injury to property was opened
by the woman. Janse van Rensburg confirmed that the man opened a case of armed
robbery at Walmer police station today after not only being stabbed, but
allegedly robbed too.

The 46-year-old complainant, from Fairview, said that he
collected a skip bin and after loading the bin, he was seated in his vehicle
when two unknown suspects approached the car. They allegedly smashed his left
side window with a stone, whereafter the one suspect leaned into the vehicle to
grab a cell phone. “A scuffle broke out between the complainant and suspects
and the complainant was stabbed in his left arm multiple times. The suspect
fled with the cell phone. The investigation is still ongoing,” Janse van Rensburg
said.

“The community is once again reminded to be extra vigilant
when driving in Victoria Road. Police are advising all drivers to avoid
stopping on this road as it is a crime hotspot. Always make sure that doors and
windows are locked at all times and valuables, especially cell phones, are not
in direct view of anyone,” she said.
