DiDi, the world’s leading mobility platform, has officially entered the South African market, launching in Port Elizabeth on 1 March.
DiDi provides a cutting-edge, safe, digital platform that enables riders to connect with drivers to get where they need to go. Simultaneously, its business model creates safe entrepreneurship opportunities for its drivers.
DiDi offers a full range of app-based services for over 550 million users, allowing the company to enter the Port Elizabeth market with a solid, reliable and high-level tool, both for driver partners and users.
The DiDi difference
More than just being another ride-hailing service in South Africa, DiDi boasts some incredible benefits for both drivers and riders as part of its launch in the country.
On sign up, riders will receive 50% off vouchers to be used on their first 10 rides (capped at R20 discount per ride). What’s more, on the first three Saturdays of March (DiDi days), all riders will ride for free (up to R30 per ride) or cash riders will receive a 50% discount on their rides (capped at R30). It’s also important to highlight that all these discounts and promotions for riders won’t affect drivers’ earnings as DiDi will cover the full cost of those initiatives.
Prospective drivers will also benefit as they can expect an unique 0% take rate for the first four weeks after launch, provided all required documents are approved by 28 February 2021. What’s more, there is a guaranteed take rate of 18% for the rest of 2021. Drivers that sign up before 28 February 2021 will also receive R250 if they complete 20 trips within the first two weeks of March. Finally, DiDi also offers attractive referral bonuses to drivers (at R100 for referring new drivers and R50 for recommending DiDi to riders).
To benefit from these exciting launch promotions, DiDi invites all potential driving partners in the city to sign up and start driving while riders looking for safety, efficiency and reliability are also encouraged to download the “DiDi Driver” app and start using the service.
Safety is key
Today, more than ever, mobility and entrepreneurship must be reliable, safe, and accessible. DiDi is the global leader in mobility safety for good reason, boasting a wide range of safety features beneficial to users and driving partners. This includes facial recognition for drivers, SOS buttons for riders and drivers linked to Police, safety hotline available 24/7, preview information for riders and drivers, and safety training for drivers, among others. What’s more, in a time of COVID-19, all riders and drivers are required to follow strict health and safety protocols.
Lyn Ma, DiDi’s General Manager for Africa says, “We believe that mobility should be accessible to everyone in the safest way possible while promoting entrepreneurship and providing better economic opportunities. All this is achieved through our advanced safety technology and excellent customer service, both common points of contention in the South African consumer market. We’re extremely proud of our business and what we can achieve with the South African community”.
