
Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) police are on the hunt for four
suspects who allegedly robbed a couple at their home in Theesecombe last night,
February 27.
According to police reports, it is alleged that at about
23:05, just after guests left their house in Pine Village Upper Seaview Road,
they were confronted by four unknown males in the kitchen.
“One suspect was armed with a firearm; one was armed with a
screwdriver and another was armed with a crowbar. They demanded cash and the safe
from the victims,” police spokesperson Colonel Pricilla Naidu said.
She added that the 61-year-old man’s hands and feet were
tied, while his wife’s hands were tied with her apron and her feet bound with
cell phone cords.
“The suspects took a 9mm pistol from the safe and fled with
cash, and various items including wedding bands, watches and diamond earrings. The
estimated value is R145 000.”
The suspects gained entry through the braai area and left
the scene the same way. The victims were
not injured.
