Two suspects arrested for
possession of stolen goods are expected to appear in the St Albans magistrate
court tomorrow, March 1.
According to police spokesperson Colonel
Priscilla Naidu, police and SANDF members were conducting foot patrols in the
hotspot areas in Kuyga recently when they noticed a door opened in Wentzel
Street.
“The members went to investigate
and saw a man standing with his hands behind his back. Upon questioning him and
requesting that he should show his hands, the man was reluctant and fell to the
ground. This behaviour made the officers suspicious and the house was searched,”
Naidu explained.
About 10 cell phones, tik, mandrax, 10 various
makes of watches, three toy guns, a paint ball gun, ammunition, laptops, a TV set,
computer monitors, and a backpack were found in the house.
“The two males aged 27 and 31 could
not account for the possession thereof. Both were arrested and detained on
charges of possession of drugs, illegal possession of ammunition and possession
of suspected stolen property.”
