Police in Cookhouse are investigating a case of culpable homicide after a woman from Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) was killed in a
head-on collision with another motor vehicle on the N10 road near Cookhouse on
Friday, February 27 at about 18:20.
According to police spokesperson Captain Bradley Rawlinson,
it is alleged by the truck driver that while he was travelling towards Gqeberha
on the N10 about 2km from Middleton, a silver Toyota sedan suddenly
approached him from Gqeberha’s direction, travelling in the wrong lane.
The truck driver alleged that he could not avoid the
collision.
“The driver of the Toyota sedan died on the scene,” said
Rawlinson.
He said the identity of the deceased is not yet known.
“The truck driver sustained injuries and was transported to
Somerset East Hospital by EMS Personnel,” said Rawlinson.
He said the body of the deceased was taken to Somerset East
Mortuary. A case of culpable homicide is currently under
investigation.
