THE Nelson Mandela Bay Basketball Association (NMBBA) had to start their pre-season games in the empty Raymond Mhlaba Indoor Sports Centre on Sunday, as spectators are not allowed to attend sports events, with the aim of avoiding the spread of COVID-19.

The newcomers, Zwide Eagles, thwarted PE Comets B 71-35. PE Comets Masters punished Invaders 53-23 in their one-sided game.

Walter Sisulu University’s (WSU) men’s team registered a well-deserved 55-41 win in their game against PE Comets B. PE Comets A earned a hard-fought 46-31 victory over WSU men’s team. Spartans Veterans had to dig deep to overcome the youthful Zwide Eagles 40-36 in their game that produced fireworks.
