Boxing legend Jimmy Abbott (61) passed away at his house in Heidelberg, Gauteng on Sunday night.
According to Heidelberg Volunteer Medics Facebook page, they received a call for a patient with difficulty breathing and severe heart failure. Their volunteers responded and at 20:40 Abbott passed away.
“It is with a heavy heart that we bid farewell to this great legend. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends,” the statement read on Facebook.
Abbott took part in the programme Slank, which is currently airing on kykNET.
He had a stroke in 2013 and has since struggled with health issues.
