Within a week of the murder of a 22-year-old man, SAPS Algoa Park detectives arrested Shayhieda Dollie (51) for murder and conspiracy to commit the murder of her son for an alleged policy payout.
According to police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg, Shayhieda was sentenced to 25 years’ imprisonment in the Gqeberha High Court on Wednesday, November 27.
“It is alleged that the body of an unknown man in his twenties was found in Missionvale with gunshot wounds to the head and neck. As the investigation continued, the members later identified the deceased as Moegamat Dollie (22) from Gelvandale,” she reported.
Nelson Mandela Bay District Commissioner, Major General Vuyisile Ncata, reiterated that the fight against gender-based violence is ongoing.
“The SAPS is committed to ensuring that jail sentences such as this bring hope to all victims that justice prevails and that the cycle of violence against women and children can and must be broken,” said Ncata.
