Mount Road detectives are appealing to the community to assist them in identifying the body of a vagrant found in Newton Park yesterday.
According to police spokesperson, Col. Priscilla Naidu, at approximately 13:45, police found the body of a black male lying on his back behind a shopping complex in the area. He is estimated to be anywhere between the ages of 60 and 65 years old.
“He was clad in a green jersey, blue overall pants, a black beanie and was barefoot,” Naidu said.
Police are urging anyone who can assist them in identifying and tracing his next-of-kin, to contact D/Lt. Col. Cokisle Mfunda at Mount Road police station on 082 442 1305 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
They can also visit their nearest police station.
An inquest docket has been opened for investigation.
