ALL eyes are on the Eastern Cape Sports Confederation’s newly elected committee, which will be in control of various kinds of sport within the province for the next four years.
The elections took place at the East London International Convention Centre recently. Mzondeleli Qotoyi, from OR Tambo District Municipality, was unanimously elected as the president, while Zizo Papu from Buffalo City Metro, Simphiwe Tsipa from Amathole and Wanele Klassen from Nelson Mandela Bay were elected as first, second and third presidents respectively.
Nelson Mandela Bay’s Sibongile Fondini was elected as the general secretary and the Sarah Baartman’s Jeff Budaza was elected as the general secretary for four years. Buffalo City Metro’s Andrew Sokolich was elected as the treasurer.
According to Fondini, co-options would be announced shortly, with the aim of addressing the gender imbalance in the executive committee.
