BAY residents will be in for a treat next month when the fifth annual 5km Chocolate Run kicks off Women’s Month on a high note.
Every year, a sea of runners and walkers alike flock to Kings Beach to participate and experience a taste of “entertainment with a purpose”.
The run also aims to challenge perpetrators of violence to change their behaviour towards women and children.
Organiser Jason Gabriel said, “Our aim is to create an environment that thrives on fun and puts smiles on the faces of everyone in attendance. In honour of Women’s Month, we encourage women to join in the fun and wear their ‘doek’ or head wraps to the event.”
Men can also join in the fun to support the women in their lives.
As part of the celebration, the event is designed to create a vibrant atmosphere with feel- good music, spectacular Zumba and hip-hop dance.
Participants will be rewarded with a chocolate goodie pack.
It is a family event with no winners or official times, so, everyone is invited to run or walk and enjoy the morning.
The 5km Chocolate Run/Walk will take place at Kings Beach on August 4 at 08:00. A Zumba warm-up dance will start at 07:45.
Tickets at R70 per person are available at Brian Bands, The Footballer and Brocketts Sports.
