Working hard to realise artistry-fueled trip to United Kingdom

Junior Oliphant, a 26-year-old artist from Roodepan, Kimberley, held a successful fundraising exhibition in the Northern Cape Theatre last week. Two of Oliphant’s artworks were selected to be exhibited at the eighth London Contemporary Art Fair, set to take place from 19 May to 2 June. Since receiving the news, Oliphant has focused on getting as much publicity as possible to raise funds for flight tickets, accommodation, a daily allowance, the visa application fee and more for his trip to London. Last week, Desery Fienies and Venus Blennies – respectively the Northern Cape MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture and the MEC for Youth, Women, People with Disabilities – also committed to contribute R100 000 towards his journey.Photo: Facebook/Junior Oliphant
