konoha martial arts students
Konoha Martial Arts Kathu and Kuruman had a stellar performance at Martial Arts South Africa’s national championship and festival in Pretoria on 14 and 15 June, representing the Northern Cape. The team won 14 gold, nine silver, and 12 bronze medals, contributing to 35 of the province’s 51 medals. Led by Soke Sensei Rainer Jacobs and Sensei Janko Janse van Vuuren, the team’s dedication and skill earned them a remarkable haul. They are from the left, front: Rolandi Ellis (3 silver, 1 bronze), Jeane Daries (2 gold) and Dewald van Huysteen (3 gold, 2 silver, 3 bronze. He also scored the highest points for the Northern Cape team and is currently placed second nationally); middle: Dilshad Rana (3 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze), Dihan van Huysteen (2 silver, 1 bronze), Madrie Janse van Vuuren (4th and 5th place), Zayden Potgieter (2 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze), Estienne Scholtz (1 silver, 2 bronze) and Minke Barendse (1 gold, 2 bronze); back: Sensei Armand Grobler (instructor), Kyle Barendse (4th place), Janko Janse van Vuuren (1 bronze), SJ Everts (2 gold, 1 bronze), GP Esterhuizen (1 silver), Elbert Esterhuizen (1 bronze) and Ishfaq Rana (1 gold, 1 bronze).
