Launched in 2018, Ambassadors for Good is Anglo American’s global skills-based volunteering programme funded by the Anglo American Foundation, with the purpose of transforming employee expertise into community impact.
The “Caring for the Boy Child” campaign was initiated through the Ambassadors for Good programme in partnership with Therapist on Wheels โ a mobile wellness organisation providing free mental health services in the Northern Cape.
The campaign reflects the impactful work undertaken by Anglo American’s volunteers within host communities.
It is structured through a five-week programme for boys in Grade 4 to Grade 7 at the Assmang Primary School in Postmasburg.

The initiative was designed to raise awareness about mental health, reduce stigma and equip young learners with practical tools to manage emotions, build resilience and develop positive coping strategies. Also, it was designed to help learners strengthen their emotional well-being and navigate life’s challenges with confidence.
The themed workshops facilitated by the Ambassadors for Good volunteers in collaboration with the Therapist on Wheels team, created a safe space for the boys to be vulnerable and receive guidance.
“We see this as something that really shows our purpose: to reimagine mining to improve people’s lives,” explains Jessicah Seekoei.
Seekoei is the social performance specialist at Kumba Iron Ore and Ambassador for Good volunteer.
“It is important to create safe spaces in schools that will encourage young people to feel comfortable enough to express themselves about the many challenges they encounter.
“We hope this campaign had a meaningful impact on the lives of the learners and will foster resilience within them that will allow them to thrive,” Seekoei says.
