GAUTENG – Nine people have been killed and ten others injured in a mass shooting at a tavern in Bekkersdal, Westonaria during the early hours of Sunday morning.
According to police, the incident occurred just before 01:00 at the Tambo section, when approximately twelve suspects travelling in a white minibus and a silver sedan opened fire at tavern patrons.
Whilst the injured have been taken to medical facilities for treatment, the Gauteng Serious and Violent Crime Investigations Unit, together with the Crime Detection Tracing Unit, have launched a manhunt for the suspects.
The motive for the shooting is yet to be determined.
