JOHANNESBURG – Gauteng police are investigating murder and attempted murder charges following a drive-by shooting in Reiger Park that claimed the lives of six people dead and leaving three others wounded.
According to a media statement, Acting Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service (Saps) in Gauteng, Major General Fred Kekana, has mobilised resources following the incident reported on Saturday afternoon (1 November).
The statement revealed that two vehicles — a silver and black Volkswagen Polo — entered the area before occupants fired random shots. “The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear at this stage, but investigations are underway and a manhunt has been launched for the suspects,” the statement disclosed.
Major General Kekana has appealed to the Reiger Park community to allow law enforcement agencies to conduct their investigation and to collaborate by reporting any criminal activities via Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or by providing anonymous tip-offs through the MySapsApp.
