BLOEMFONTEIN – The University of the Free State (UFS) and Novus Media’s 45th Matriculant of the Year competition today announces its top group: a group of well-rounded matriculants from 15 schools across the country.
Of the top group, 14 finalists – 11 girls and three boys – will take part in the final round at the Monte Bello Estate outside Bloemfontein from 5 to 7 October.
The candidates are recognised not only for their academic achievements, but also for their leadership, sporting and cultural accomplishments. Many of the learners are also actively involved at their schools and in their communities.
The remaining 11 semifinalists also qualify for prize money and study bursaries made possible by the competition’s sponsors.
