The countdown is on for South Africa’s biggest rugby party of the year, and it just got a whole lot more affordable. HSBC SVNS Cape Town tickets go on sale tomorrow (Friday, 2 October) at 09h00, with prices rolled back to pre-pandemic levels in a stunning move that will see fans pack DHL Stadium for as little as R180.
Mark your calendars: 5 and 6 December promise two days of electrifying sevens action as the world champion Blitzboks hunt a remarkable three-peat on home soil. Fresh off claiming both the HSBC SVNS Series crown and the World Championship last season, the South African speedsters are gunning for their third consecutive Cape Town title, and you can witness every bone-crunching tackle, every lightning-quick offload, and every crowd-erupting try for a fraction of what you’d expect to pay.
Prices slashed by up to 28%
SA Rugby has swung the axe at ticket prices, cutting costs by between 17% and 28% across all categories. They want DHL Stadium heaving with passionate supporters when the world’s best male and female sevens stars descend on the Mother City.
“We want to fill the stadium once again for South Africa’s biggest party,” said Rian Oberholzer, CEO of SA Rugby. “We can promise two days of top-class action as well as the unique experience the Cape Town Sevens offers with music and entertainment for people of all ages to enjoy.
“We’ve seen the Blitzboks win the World Championship in the past two seasons and this is the annual chance to see the boys turn on the style on home turf.”
What Will It Cost You?
Here’s the full breakdown of ticket categories:
- Category A: R500 – Prime real estate in the lower tier, west and east stands, close to the halfway line. The best seat in the house for a full day’s action.
- Category B: R380 – Lower tier seats from the 10m line towards the corners, west and east stands.
- Category C: R280 – Lower tier access to the legendary Party and Family stands.
- Category D: R180 – Unreserved seating throughout the entire second tier. Perfect for budget-conscious fans who still want the full Cape Town Sevens experience.
More than just rugby
The HSBC SVNS Cape Town isn’t simply a rugby tournament, it’s a cultural phenomenon. Expect the stadium to transform into a carnival of colour, with fancy dress-clad supporters creating an atmosphere unmatched anywhere else on the global sevens circuit. Music, dance, comedy, food, and drink combine with world-class rugby to deliver an unforgettable weekend.
“It’s a special celebration and we hope people will come along with their friends in their fancy dress to enjoy the rugby, the weather, the entertainment, the food and the drink,” said Oberholzer. “It’ll be two, action-packed days, with the Blitzboks as the stars of the show as they look to achieve the remarkable feat of taking the new world champions crown for a third year in a row.”
Official channels only to avoid the scammers
SA Rugby has issued a stern warning: buy your tickets through official channels only. The sole authorised platform is www.springboks.tmtickets.co.za.
“We saw at the last Cape Town rugby event this year that unsuspecting fans were left high and dry without access to the ground when they bought through unofficial resellers,” Oberholzer explained. “We repeat our advice – as we do before every national rugby event – to please only purchase through official channels or risk losing your money as well as being excluded from the event.”
Don’t get caught out by dodgy resellers flogging fake tickets. Stick to the official platform and secure your spot at what promises to be one of the sporting highlights of the year.
