Tickets go on sale on Friday for Cape Town’s biggest party, the HSBC SVNS Tournament.

The first 500 rugby fans quick enough to snag tickets when sales open Friday morning, 5 September, will score more than just great seats – they’ll get free beer to go with the action.

Tickets for the HSBC SVNS Cape Town tournament go on sale at 09:00 Friday exclusively through Ticketmaster.co.za, with the defending world champion Blitzboks set to take center stage 6-7 December at what organisers call the Mother City’s biggest party.

The free drink vouchers await early birds who purchase R350 tickets in the Party Stand, where elaborate fancy dress has become tradition. Families also get a boost with four tickets for a full day’s action priced at just R750, with reserved seating in blocks 105 to 112.

World Rugby confirmed Monday that Cape Town will host the tournament for the next three years, bringing relief to local fans who have watched the Blitzboks capture both the Cape Town title last year and the HSBC SVNS World Championship in Los Angeles in May.

“With the new tournament model, we envisage high-octane rugby from all the teams from the get-go, with no place to hide as only the top two teams in the respective pools will progress to the semi-finals,” said SA Rugby CEO Rian Oberholzer.

The revamped series format means seven other men’s teams and eight women’s teams will join the Blitzboks in what promises to be an unforgiving competition structure where every match matters.

Ticket prices start at R250 for unreserved upper-level seating, while premium Category A seats on the halfway line cost R600. The tournament maintains its reputation as more than just rugby, combining sport with music, food, and festival atmosphere.

“It’s the ultimate blend of sport and lifestyle,” Oberholzer said. “From edge-of-your-seat matches on the field to music, food, and culture, it’s more than a tournament – it’s a celebration.”

Ticket categories (per person, per day):

  • Category A: R600 (halfway line, lower tier)
  • Category B: R450 (10m line toward corners, lower tier)
  • Category C: R350 (Party and Family stands)
  • Category D: R250 (levels two and three, unreserved)
  • Disabled: R450 (includes companion)

Organizers warn supporters against purchasing from online resellers like Viagogo, stating that only Ticketmaster.co.za has legitimate access to tickets.

The Cape Town tournament kicks off the 2026 HSBC SVNS season, which includes stops in Dubai, Singapore, Australia, Vancouver, and the USA, before concluding with World Championship events in Hong Kong, Valladolid, and Bordeaux.
