KWAZULU-NATAL – The Pinetown Magistrates’ Court in KwaZulu-Natal has granted bail of R10 000 to Fadiel Adams (49), a member of the National Assembly, who faces charges of fraud and defeating the administration of justice.
Adams, who represents the National Coloured Congress (NCC) in Parliament, made his first court appearance earlier this month. He is charged with three counts of fraud and two counts of defeating the administration of justice.
In granting bail, the court imposed several strict conditions.
Among the conditions are that Adams may not communicate with witnesses linked to the matter.
These include members of the South African Police Service (SAPS), Durban Metro Police, employees of the Department of Correctional Services, and members of the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT), now known as the Commissions Recommendations Task Team (CRTT).
He is also required to report in person to the Mitchells Plain Police Station in Cape Town twice a week.
The court further ordered that Adams must reside at the addresses provided to the court and notify the investigating officer before changing his residence.

Should he wish to travel outside Cape Town, Adams must first obtain permission from the investigating officer. For work-related travel, he will need to provide the relevant authorisation and secure prior consent.
Adams was arrested on Tuesday 5 May inside the Pelican Park Parliamentary Village near Grassy Park in Cape Town.
The case was postponed to Friday 14 August 2026.
