PRETORIA – The South African Police Service (SAPS) has announced that the investigative unit previously known as the Madlanga Task Team will now officially be called the Commissions Recommendations Task Team (CRTT).
In a statement issued yesterday (15 May), SAPS said the name change is intended to provide greater clarity regarding the task team’s mandate and scope of work.
According to SAPS, the CRTT is responsible for investigating matters arising from recommendations made by the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
“The name change is aimed at ensuring clarity regarding the mandate and scope of the task team,” the SAPS said.
The police service has encouraged members of the media and the public to use the new official name in all future references and reporting.

The SAPS also expressed appreciation for the continued support and cooperation from stakeholders as the task team carries out its duties.
“The SAPS appreciates the continued support and cooperation from all stakeholders as the task team continues to execute its mandate without fear or favour,” the statement read.
