Tokara Plants and Garden Fair
Plant lovers are invited to visit the annual Tokara Rare Plant Fair & Autumn Open Garden on 18 April.

THURSDAY 2 APRIL

Stellenbosch: The STELLENBOSCH UNIVERSITY BOTANICAL GARDEN hosts its first student exhibition, featuring artworks by unexhibited artists as young as 10 years. The exhibition, curated by Karen Stuart, showcases works in many mediums and subjects of nature. It will be on display until Friday 17 April and is made possible by the James & Shirley Sherwood Project. SATURDAY 4 APRIL

Paarl: Cape Town Opera (CTO) and the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra unite for in a celebration of baroque and classical choral brilliance at the PAARL TORINGKERK at 15:00. The church will come alive with two of the most stylish and beloved sacred works ever composed: Antonio Vivaldi’s “Gloria” and Joseph Haydn’s Nelson “Mass”. The orchestra will be conducted by Jan Hugo, and they are joined by the CTO’s soloists Brittany Smith (soprano), Nonhlanhla Yende (mezzo-soprano), Lukhanyo Moyake (tenor) and Conroy Scott (baritone). Khayakazi Madlala and Nica Reinke, both Judith Neilson Young Artists and the CTO’s Vocal Ensemble, round off the lineup. The doors open at 14:00 and seating is unreserved, so booking is advised. SUNDAY 5 APRIL

Stellenbosch: MIDDELVLEI WINES holds its Easter Brunch and Easter Egg Hunt from 09:30 to 11:30, promising a morning of delicious farm-style food and Easter festivities for all ages. Brunch includes favourites with a playful Easter-inspired twist, with egg and bacon roosterkoek and hot cross bun jaffles creating a delicious blend of traditional Easter flavours. While adults savour their meal over a glass of Middelvlei wine (or Boeretroos coffee), the morning’s festivities will come alive for younger visitors at 10:00, when the hunt will be held followed by the chance to paint Easter eggs and meet a bunny or two. TUESDAY 14 APRIL

Stellenbosch: African Drumming Tuesdays, a programme of the STELLENBOSCH UNIVERSITY MUSEUM, will be held from 13:00 to 14:00. It aims to enhance wellness and well-being on campus, with sessions free and open to all. Call Ricky Brecht on 021 808 3660 or send email to rickyb@sun.ac.za to book.

SATURDAY 18 APRIL

Ida’s Valley: SPEELKRING PRE-PRIMARY holds a colour run at the school in Dahlia Street from 09:00 to 13:00. Tickets cost R50; children enter free of charge. Ticket collection is at 08:30. Bring the family, picnic basket and camping chairs for a morning of fun.

Stellenbosch: The TOKARA RARE PLANT FAIR & AUTUMN OPEN GARDEN will be held from 08:00 to 16:00. Explore the farm garden with secluded corners and scultures, and buy a variety of plants from specialist growers. Guided tours are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Refreshments will be on sale. Admission costs R60; children under 10 enter free of charge. All proceeds go to the Camphill Farm Community in Hermanus.
