Strand resident Donavan Udemans made waves in the local kayak-fishing community after landing an incredible 101 cm snoek during the Katonkel Ronkel 2026 competition on Saturday 1 August.
His impressive catch is currently the biggest snoek recorded in the competition so far, placing him in a strong position to claim a prize in this category.

The competition attracted 158 registered members, with 125 kayakers taking to the water on the day.
Catching a 101 cm snoek from a kayak is an exceptional achievement, showcasing the angler’s skill patience and dedication to the sport.
Udemans finished in an impressive third place in last year’s competition and is hoping that he can repeat or better in this year’s competition, as the final results are still awaited.
