The much-loved Helderberg Hospice Open Gardens returns from Friday 23 to Sunday 25 October, inviting garden lovers, families and the wider community to enjoy a weekend of beautiful gardens, gardening inspiration and community spirit – all the while supporting the vital work of Helderberg Hospice.
This year’s event promises something for everyone, with a selection of private gardens opening their gates to visitors for this weekend only. From established gardens filled with mature trees and colourful borders to creative spaces showcasing gardening ideas, visitors can enjoy a leisurely wander, gather inspiration and discover new ways to bring their own gardens to life.
The Gardeners’ Market at Helderberg Hospice will offer all things garden related. Visitors will be able to browse a variety of gardening products, plants, garden-inspired items and useful finds, the perfect opportunity to stock up for the summer gardening season.
For those wanting to improve their gardening there will also be talks and practical demonstrations. Enthusiasts can learn useful tips and techniques from knowledgeable gardeners and experts, with opportunities to ask questions and take ideas home.

A particularly meaningful part of this year’s event will be a visit to the Helderberg Hospice Garden of Remembrance, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary. The garden provides a peaceful and beautiful space where families and friends can remember and honour loved ones.
Over the past decade it has become a treasured part of the Hospice and a place of reflection, remembrance and quiet comfort.
To mark this special milestone, visitors to the Garden of Remembrance will receive a special gift as a small token of appreciation and remembrance.
The weekend is about much more than beautiful flowers and inspiring garden spaces. It is also an opportunity to experience the heart of Helderberg Hospice and to see how community support helps make compassionate palliative care possible.
So bring family and friends, put on your walking shoes and come and enjoy a weekend of gardens, gardening, shopping and community. Come for the gardens, stay for the inspiration and leave knowing you have helped make a difference.
