Helderberg Rugby Club delivered a statement performance on Saturday (30 May), overcoming Western Province powerhouse Hamilton Rugby Club 45-34 in an entertaining Super League A clash at Charles Morkel Stadium in Strand.
Hammies took an early 7-0 lead via a Kristoff Smith try, but Berge fought back. First-half tries by Mauritz Swart, Liam Tattersall and Pieter Kemp kept the hosts within striking distance, heading into the break trailing 22-24.

The second half belonged to the home side. Quick-fire tries by Jodeci Davids and fullback Junior Fortuin shifted the momentum, while flyhalf Michael Visser contributed 20 points through conversions, a 59th-minute drop goal and two late penalties to seal the 45-34 victory.
Super League B encounters produced high drama as Macassar and All Saints rugby clubs experienced contrasting fortunes on a weekend that reshuffled the top of the table.
Log-leaders Macassar travelled to NTK in a bruising encounter and suffered a narrow 32-29 defeat, a minor setback in an otherwise impressive campaign.
They remain at the summit of SLB with 30 points from seven matches (six wins, one loss, and a points differential of +72).

Saints march on
Meanwhile, the Olla Boys preserved their unbeaten record with a hard-fought 18-18 draw away against Bellville, consolidating second place on the log with 29 points.
They are the only undefeated side in the league (six wins and a draw) and sit just a single point behind the MC Boys, setting up a compelling title race.
It was a tougher weekend for St George’s, who suffered a 40-26 defeat at the hands of Hands & Heart. The loss leaves them 13th on the log with 11 points from seven games, in need of a win to pull clear of the relegation zone.

In Super League C, Sir Lowrians were clinical in dismantling Scottsdene Central 39-7, combining sharp attacking play with a solid defensive effort to claim a full complement of log points.
The victory lifts the Navy Train to sixth place with 22 points from seven games, well within reach of the top four.
Strand RFC, meanwhile, suffered an agonising 40-39 loss to Busy Bee in a 79-point thriller. Despite a spirited display and several brilliant attacking phases, they were undone by a single point. They remain in 14th place with four points from seven consecutive losses, though the bonus-point performance suggests improvement is on the way.
Elsewhere in the basin, Raithby Universals sit 13th with 13 points from six games, while Strand United remain rooted to the foot of the table in 16th place with three points from six outings.
