Close to 300 boys of Saints take part in Afrikaans Eisteddfod

The remarkable number of 289 boys of the Saint Andrew’s School Bloemfontein – representing 80% of the junior school – took part in the prestigious Afrikaans Eisteddfod from 18 to 22 May.

Although St Andrew’s is an English medium school, it remains committed to exposing boys to opportunities across a wide range of cultural, academic and creative disciplines.

Participation in the Afrikaans Eisteddfod provided learners with the opportunity to grow in confidence, communication, language appreciation and performance skills.

Of the participating boys, 58 competed individually, showcasing their talents in various categories, while six grades participated in group performances. The enthusiasm and dedication demonstrated by the boys throughout the week were a testament to their hard work and the encouragement of their teachers and families.

The boys attained the following symbols: 8 A++, 24 A+, 21 A, 9 B+ and 3 C+.
