PAARL – Two separate farm attacks in the Cape Winelands on Tuesday (4 August) left one woman injured, another assaulted and a family traumatised, while police continued to search for the suspects involved.
The incidents, which occurred in Klapmuts and Wolseley within hours of each other, were being investigated as house robberies.
Constable Ndakhe Gwala, spokesperson for the Western Cape police, confirmed that Klapmuts police were investigating a house robbery after six armed men targeted a farm in the area on Tuesday evening.
“This office confirms that Klapmuts police registered a case of house robbery following an incident on a farm in Klapmuts on Tuesday 4 August 2026 about 18:50.
“According to reports, six male suspects broke into a farmhouse and demanded a safe. They physically assaulted a 44-year-old female victim and tied a 45-year-old male victim with cable ties. They stole a television set, five cellphones, clothing items, bank cards, jewellery and some groceries.”

Hours later a 55-year-old woman was attacked in her farmhouse near Wolseley by four unidentified suspects, a second farm robbery reported to police.
Capt Frederick van Wyk, another Western Cape police spokesperson, said police responded to a complaint of a house robbery when security personnel and members of the Highway Patrol were already on the scene.
“According to reports police officers attended to a complaint of a house robbery at a farm,” he said, “and on their arrival personnel of a security company and members of the Highway patrol were already on the scene, who informed the members that the 55-year-old victim was attacked by four unidentified males whilst sitting in her living room.”
Van Wyk said the woman’s dog confronted the attackers during the incident.
“Her dog attacked the suspects and the dog was stabbed in the process. She [the victim] sustained injuries to her left eye and left side of her head. She was taken to a nearby medical facility by ambulance for treatment.”
The suspects fled with the woman’s handbag containing her personal belongings and cellphone. Two similar attacks took place in Wolseley earlier this year at other farms.
Police have appealed to anyone with information about the Wolseley incident to contact the investigating officer, Det Sgt Cashwell Abrahams, on 079 894 0195. Alternatively, any information with regard to both incidents can be anonymously shared via Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
No arrests had been made at the time of publication. Investigations into both farm attacks were continuing.
