K-Day 2026 Rugby - St Andrew's College's entertaining day of rugby
St Andrew’s College hosted Kingswood College

Kingswood grab victory on wet and slippery K-day 2026

Despite heavy rain and a slippery surface, St Andrew’s College, Makhanda, hosted Kingswood College, Mzansi Rugby Academy, and Isibane Selane Rugby Academy for a spirited day of rugby on Saturday, 13 June. Every available College team took to the field on this K-day 2026 rugby day. They embraced the conditions and also delivered competitive encounters filled with determination and schoolboy passion.

The wet pitch curtailed expansive running rugby, demanding tactical adjustments. The junior A‑teams rose to the challenge, producing gritty performances in tightly contested matches. A highlight came when the U14A side celebrated their first victory of the season, a milestone achieved through sheer perseverance.

In the 1st Team clash, Kingswood seized early control, punishing unforced errors to score three unanswered tries in the opening 20 minutes. Yet College refused to yield. The team returned after halftime with renewed resolve. They tightened their structures, secured more possession, and struck back with two superb tries that also ignited the home crowd. With 15 minutes remaining, Kingswood’s composure and mature game management ensured they held firm, closing out a 29‑12 victory.

St Andrew’s College extends warm congratulations to all visiting teams for contributing to a memorable day of traditional schoolboy rugby. Attention now turns to the eagerly awaited final derby of the season, as College prepares to host Dale College this coming weekend.
